In April 2018, an unlikely band of snowboarders, skiers, guides and cameramen departed Europe on a most unusual journey. Their destination: Pakistan’s Karakoram range, and an out-of-the-way, out-of-this-world mountain peak, Biacherahi North Tower that had never been ridden on skis or a board.
The first descent of Biacherahi North Tower may have been the driving force behind this film—but as you’ll see in Zabardast, this crowning achievement was in reality just one part of a sprawling, madcap journey into another world. From the trials and travails of traveling through some of the world’s most inhospitable terrain to magical encounters with a welcoming foriegn culture, Zabardast is an adventure film that really lives up to the name. We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we did.
Make sure to grab a copy of the latest issue of Downdays magazine for our 14-page feature on the Zabardast project, and to see Leo Taillefer’s glory cover shot putting the first ski tracks ever on the Biacherahi.
