News from the partnership world: Freeski legend and steep skiing pioneer Chris Davenport has joined the ranks of the Ortovox athlete ambassador team.
“Joining the Ortovox athlete team as an avalanche ambassador was an easy decision for me,” says Davenport. “Ortovox is the brand that pioneered avalanche rescue equipment and continues to push the innovation threshold in avalanche rescue technology to this day. Ortovox’s deeply rooted values in environmental protection solidified my decision.”

“We take tremendous pride in our mission to enable safe mountain experiences at Ortovox. Chris Davenport is the perfect addition to our ambassador team as a mountain athlete who has set the bar high when it comes to ski mountaineering achievements and leadership in avalanche awareness,” says Tom Mason, U.S. brand manager at Ortovox. “We’re joining forces with ‘Dav’ at a time when backcountry skiing has grown exponentially, which gives us a great opportunity to share compelling stories tied to mountain safety and advocacy for avalanche awareness.”
A two-time World Extreme Skiing Champion and ski mountaineering standard-bearer, Davenport is one of the world’s most accomplished big mountain skiers. In 2007 he became the first person to ski all 54 of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks in less than a year. He’s logged numerous first descents around the globs, from the Himalaya to Alaska. In addition to being a world-renowned athlete, Davenport is passionate about avalanche education, climate advocacy and guiding. He is the author of two books and lives in Aspen, Colorado, with his wife and three sons.
