Last month the second annual Scandinavian Team Battle at CopenHill went down, and the big show on Copenhagen's artificial ski hill didn’t disappoint.

On Saturday, June 25, ten very skilled and very different skiers battled it out in the hot Danish sun during a two-hour jam slopestyle session. Fired up by the big crowd cheering them on, the skiers tried their hardest to push the boundaries for dry slope skiing. Each team took very creative approaches on how to ski with their partner, showing that freestyle skiing doesn’t have to be an individual sport. These team antics made the event very spectator-friendly and certainly a lot different than your standard ski competition.

Some highlights from the creative and wild competition included Team America high-fiving on every rail, and Cal Carson doing a back switch-up off of Alex Hackel’s skis onto a rail. Team Denmark impressed with big spins off the rails, and a risky move where Jakob Ebskamp jumped over Isabella Tvede between the big up down gap tube. Team Norway was speeding through the course all day and got a heater of a line, with Johan Berg doing a sick front cork 450 out of the big shootout rail followed by Siver Voll lacing up a front switch-up, front 450 out. Team Switzerland consisting of Christian Moser and Anouk Andraska skied closely together all day and did a lot of tech switch-up maneuvers and had a ton of fun.

Lastly, the big expectations were on last year's winners Team Sweden, and they definitely did not disappoint. The two Swedes thrived in this comp format, and they upped the difficulty and wow-factor in each run. There were too many insane tricks to be mentioned, but one standout moment was when Emil Granbom tossed a cork 9, followed by Jesper Tjäder with a cork 7, on a really small and sketchy jump. The crowd favored the many flips from the Swedes, and were especially impressed with Jesper’s crazy backflip out of the shootout rail. When the dust settled, Team Sweden walked away with the win for the second year running. Emil and Jesper were rewarded with some nice surfboards as prizes, then it was time for a big afterparty at the rooftop overlooking Copenhagen.
