What a week! The weather around Courmayeur and the Mont Blanc changed from deep winter into spring-like conditions in no time - and the teams struggled hard to fulfill the tasks that Click on the Mountain 2017 had imposed on them. A 2 minute video, a short edit for Instagram and 10 pictures had to be delivered after 3 days of production. But this year’s output was beyond any expectations and both the jury and the public during the prize-giving ceremony were amazed by the photographic and filmmaking skills of the 4 teams. Lukas Riedl won the video categories, while Florian Breitenberger won Best Picture.

The weather didn’t make it easy for the teams during this year’s Click on the Mountain. Starting with over 1 meter of powder and high avalanche dangers, the snow quickly turned into slush on day 2, and parts of the resort remained closed for safety reasons. To make things even harder, the heli-day had to be cancelled and freeriding on Skyway / Punta Heilbronner was impossible. However, since all teams were joined by one of the guides of Guide Alpine Courmayeur, they still managed to find best spots under the given conditions and each and everyone proved why they were invited to event!

Huge cliffs, backcountry kickers, powder turns, urban trickery on abandoned houses, and loads of fun were captured by the filmers and photographers who spent four days in the backcountry of Courmayeur.

The jury, consisting of photo, film and freeride professionals alike, had a long deliberation and the final result wasn’t ready until 45 minutes before the Award evening kicked off in Maserati Mountain Lounge.
On site, Karim Bartoletti (movie producer) and Manuel Castelnuovo (snowboard expert & inventor of the event) sat together, while Nico Zacek (Freeski Pro), Mark von Roy (downdays Magazine) and Klaus Polzer (Photographer and Winner of the 2015 edition) were judging online.

Sebastian Huber, head judge, states:
This year’s edition was especially tough for the jury, as the overall level was so high. Both media and riders showed an amazing skill set - so we had to have some serious discussions about it…

Saturday night, the film-makers, photographers, riders, guides, and spectators came together in central Courmayeur, eager to see what had been produced over the last few days. Spontaneous applause arose when massive airs and double backflips were shown on the screen.
The official event ended with the prize-giving for the designated winners - but the night wasn’t over, as the party continued till early in the morning!
