Now in its third year, the event marks the official start of the World Cup contest season. It’s also the only remaining city Big Air contest in Europe.
Big Air Chur is a great place to get a first glimpse of what the upcoming season has in store in terms of new tricks and emerging talents. Last year’s contest saw a flurry of 1800 rotations in every imaginable form and a new breed of bringback tricks among the men’s field (winner Birk Ruud brought both to the table). Meanwhile, the women (like winner Tess Ledeux) showed off clean grabs in double corks to both directions.

City events like Big Air Chur are a special breed. No other kind of event gets you get as close to the action while you're still wearing sneakers and street clothes. At the same time, the musical lineup attracts thousands of spectators who might not otherwise attend a freeski event. It’s a clever combination that ends up putting a crowd of thousands of the big air ramp to cheer on the competitors. The vibe is electric.
