The 31st Kaunertal Opening is here!
The Alps' oldest park opening goes down this weekend, from 07th – 09th of October and starts its fourth decade of shredding. What started as a glacier fest in the Eighties is now one of the biggest pre- season gatherings of the freeski and snowboard scene and a kick off event to celebrate the upcoming winter season at Snowpark Kaunertal.
New decade, new style. Right in time for this year's KTO, Snowpark Kaunertal begins a new era. 22 back-to-back obstacles, 800 meters in length and some of the sickest jib obstacle combos ever seen, create one of the smoothest, longest and richest in variation Jib Lines of this season. Up-tube and down-rail sequences, picknic setups and down rail staircases – just to mention a few - will create the Half Mile Jib Line. Let the jib games begin!
Following a similar logic, the KTO Pro and Amateur Contest follows the credo “Bringing the FREE back in STYLE.”
Next to park and contest, six different sessions are taking place at a special kind of playground. The Yamaha Playground will be the stage for some serious jibbing, skating and snowmobiling. In sessions like Go-Shred Rail Bingo, Shred Unit Girls Session and Einhorn Hangover Session presented by Prime Skiing/ Prime Snowboarding it is all about fame & glory as well as sick gear and other insane prizes.
A broad variety of different side events will bring unique vibes to the glacier. Next to the Blue Tomato Testival, the Modular Pumptrack will be installed. As another highlight, the DJI drone workshop can be mentioned. After a chill day on the glacier, the After Ride BBQ by Blue Tomato and go-shred creates a sleek transition from the mountain to the valley with burger, beer and beats.
The KTO Festival will again be one of its kind. This year it will be pimped by a vibrant light and stage design. On top of that a massive international line up will set the Festival on fire. Next to the traditional and beloved KTO court musicians, the Wax Wreckaz DJ Team, well known for their explosive and heavyweight sound, DJ Leeroy Thornhill (X THE PRODIGY), Russkaja Live, Fatoni Live and Invasion Sound meets Shizzle Soundsystem ft. Ruffneck Smolik Live! will enter the Festival stage. The headliner of this years Festival will be Eric Bobo aka CYPRESS JUNKIES, percussionist and former artist from Cypress Hill ft. DJ Rhettmatic. Straight out of the states their Austrian tour stop will be at the KTO. So it seems that just the line up makes a trip to the Kaunertal worthwhile.

SATURDAY Ticket Shuttle: Jimmy's IBK - 31. Kaunertaler Opening FEICHTEN
The shuttle will be available on Friday and Saturday. Start at 7.30 o´clock in front of Jimmy´s. The return shuttle is leaving at 16:20 o´clock from the parking spot at the Kaunertal glacier, all the way to the After Ride Barbecue, and back to Jimmy´s at 19.00 o´cock.
