— Confirmed for 3:00pm CET, Sunday 14 November —
The latest from the busy kitchens of the Legs of Steel Crew: Tom Ritsch will host the inaugural Ritsch's Roll Backcountry Invitational this weekend in Kitzsteinhorn, Austria. This unorthodox event features a stacked list of invited riders, a full event livestream, and a few surprises along the way.
Legs of Steel are proud to announce a backcountry invitational big air event coming to your screens LIVE in the holding period 12-14th November 2022.
Ritsch’s Roll, a backcountry invitational envisioned by Tom Ritsch, will see 9 of the world’s top backcountry skiers descend upon Kitzsteinhorn next weekend for a head-to-head format contest and battle it out for a life-changing cash prize.
I’m super excited to have all these guys come to my home mountain of Kitzsteinhorn and finally have an event at the roll! It’s not the first time we’ve hit the jump so we’re all familiar with the spot, and I know we can make the jump just as good as before.” -Tom Ritsch, Event Founder

The secret location holds the natural terrain for the perfect jump setting. The spot, discovered by local freeskier Tom Ritsch, is so remote, no machinery can be on site at the 2400m high alpine location. Instead, there’s a dedicated shape crew to hand build this unique jump.
Ritsch´s Roll is a huge glacial moraine in the Kitzsteinhorn backcountry.
This spot requires a massive build. Will Legs of Steel find enough snow to pull it off in November?
The event will run in the form of a jam session that will be livestreamed during the weather window from 12-14th November. Riders will be judged on their 2 best tricks by a brand-new judging system, a system that has been under development by LOS for the past 2 years which will deliver indisputable results.
With a promising forecast next week we’re confident we’ll have the amount of snow we need to build and session the jump so it’s time to GO!” -Paddy Graham, Sports Director

We’re really looking forward to seeing this event go down. We’ve run an event before, The LOS Sketchfest 2017, so we have some experience. this will be a new challenge for us going live from the backcountry, but I have full confidence in the crew.” -Tobi Reindl, LOS Founder
Stay tuned for more announcements on the Downdays and Legs of Steel Instagram channels.
Due to the current snow conditions in the Alps and the secret location of the jump, the decision has been made not to allow spectators to the event itself. However, you can tune in to see the full broadcast live on Youtube 12-14th November (official date and time TBA weather pending).
