Swatch Nines returns to Schilthorn for round three

February 25, 2025

For the third year in a row, this spring the sleepy picturesque village of Murren will once again be overrun with the best ski and snowboard riders in the world. Set to the backdrop of the Eiger, on the slopes of Schilthorn, The Nines will host its boundary pushing event for the 17th time.

This year, the Swatch Nines venue will be centered around a progresssion-based big booter, with plenty of playful options sprinkled on top. Ethan Stone

After the record-breaking success of The Perfect Hip in 2024, this year the set-up will be centered around a progression-focused booter. In true Nines fashion, the set-up will be far from conventional – creative mastermind Sämi Ortlieb is behind much of the design, as well as many of the regular riders, ensuring the set-up will be more playful than us mere mortals can even imagine.

“I’ve built a lot of snow ramps in my ski career, whether in the backcountry, the streets, PVC pipes in the woods or in snowparks. Nothing compares to this. It’s incredible being able to work on a project like the Nines! There are very few opportunities to design and build park features at this scale.” – Sämi Ortlieb

The Swatch Nines is a true celebration of ski and snowboard culture and is a melting pot of all the best athletes, photographers and filmers on the planet. The raison d’être of the Swatch Nines seems to be to try to find the limit – and push it further – from the limits of park shaping possibility, to the physical limitations of the human body and even the limits of how many frozen margaritas Nico Porteous can drink.

The event will be taking place at Schilthorn between 7-12 April 2025. On the last day of the event, 12 April, the venue will be open for spectators to come and experience the madness first-hand. If you are in the area, get yourself down there.
