2025 Nendaz Backcountry Invitational Livestream: Watch it here!

By: Ethan Stone January 11, 2025

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that the Nendaz Backcountry Invitational is currently the best BC freestyle throwdown in skiing. The 2025 edition takes flight on Sunday, 12 January, and we’ve got the livestream cued up right here for your viewing pleasure—co-hosted by our very own Ethan Stone.

What is the Nendaz Backcountry Invitational? Imagine your typical powdery freeride contest face, then supplement it with all manner of hand-sculpted takeoffs, booters and even a rail. Then add in a stacked riders list of talent, from Freeride World Tour stars to hungy up-and-comers, and you’ve got yourself one hell of a show.

But don’t take our word for it—watch the livestream for yourself and found out why we rank the Nendaz Backcountry Invitational as one of the most exciting and outside-the-box contests in the scene today. And while you’re at it, check out our coverage of the event from last year.

The 2025 Nendaz Backcountry Invitational livestream begins at 9:30am Central European Time on Sunday, 12 January.

The Riders

This year’s riders list might be missing a few of the heavy hitters we’ve come to expect, like Markus Eder or last year’s winner Craig Murray. But that simply leaves more room for other hungry riders to take their place and leave their own mark on this event. Another welcome change this year is an expanded women’s roster, with 6 women set to drop in.

The Venue

As usual, the show’s going down on Nendaz’s Plan du Fou, where a roughly 200-vertical-meter freeride face has been augmented with all manner of man-made elements, from flat cliff takeoffs to classic booters to yes, a rail in the middle of the face. Although the snow isn’t quite as deep as in years past, the face has filled in nicely over the past five days, guaranteeing soft landings. It’s not for nothing that the BC Invitational features one of the longest weather windows in skiing. This key component helps to guarantee the best possible conditions for the contest, and it usually pays off.
