Every two years, FIS crowns world champions in all the freestyle disciplines: Big Air, Slopestyle and Halfpipe, as well as the other freestyle events (moguls, aerials and skicross) and in snowboarding. This season the World Champs are being held in St. Moritz and Cortvatsch/Silvaplana in Switzerland’s Engadin Valley.

freestylestmoritz2025.chIt’s hard to imagine a place more scenic than the Engadin — a spectacular high-alpine valley in southeast Switzerland that’s home to the famous resort town of St. Moritz. It’s also home to a thriving freestyle scene at Corvatsch, which has one of the best snowparks in the region. In 2025, the region’s commitment to freestyle will reach a high point as it plays host to the FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships, a bonanza of sport lasting nearly two weeks.
The last World Championships were held in 2023 in Georgia, where Tess Ledeux and Troy Podmilsak won the Big Air contest, Mathilde Gremaud and Birk Ruud claimed gold in slopestyle, and Hanna Faulhaber and Brendan Mackay prevailed in the halfpipe.

The snowpark at Corvatsch is no stranger to high-level contests—it’s the traditional site of the last World Cup slopestyle of the season. Corvatsch is also sporting a brand-new halfpipe, which will host the World Championship competition.
In an interesting twist, the Big Air won’t be held at Corvatsch, but rather at the old Olympic ski jump in St. Moritz, where a scaffolding jump will be built. This will give the Big Air contest more of a city big air vibe.
