Lifting the veil on the Jossi Wells Invitational

By: Ethan Stone September 19, 2024

The Jossi Wells Invitational might be skiing’s most mysterious event.

Each fall, freeski legend Jossi Wells gathers the shredders that be to his home turf of Cardrona, New Zealand. Every year the venue is a bit different—a rail jam, a big air, a pipe session—but the format stays the same, a no-rules and no-holds-barred jam session. As it will do in New Zealand, the weather often throws a wrench into the proceedings, but based on what we see on social media, it’s always a hell of a time.

However, the event doesn’t carry the clout in long-form video that it probably should. Extensive recaps and media reports from JWI are few and far between. That’s what makes this short documentary on Jossi’s brainchild worth a watch.

In case you’re wondering, the clips are all from previous years of JWI, but drop by our Instagram to see the latest that’s been going down in the Cardrona park.
