Nico Porteous is known for his halfpipe runs and achievements at the world’s biggest contests, but he is not only a stunt ditch skier. After claiming the World Championships title, X Games, and Olympic golds, Nico unfortunately ended his season with a torn ACL in spring 2022. In the post-recovery season, he tried to do something different, as he said in an ON THE RECORD interview: “I have always really been annoyed when people call me a pipe skier.” Nico teamed up with our favorite filmmaker Gavin Rudy for their project funkRx, which is a hell of a ride. Fast skiing, side hits, booters, Euro slope vibes, street bangers, or jumping over a waterfall, it’s all there. Treat yourself and enjoy eight minutes of freeskiing at its finest.
From Nico’s website: FunkRx is my first full solo ski film, filmed and edited by Gavin Rudy. The film was shot across Europe and California from February to June 2023.
After tearing my ACL in March 2022, following the best competitive season my career, I decided to take the 2022/2023 winter off from competition and focus solely on filming.
I hope that this project showcases a side of skiing that not many people have seen from me, and gives a glimpse into what’s to come.
