And much more!
At some point everyone gets tired of the same old, same old. For the past decade, Downdays has served as the pan-European freeski magazine of record, slanging magazines across the Continent to entertain readers from Rome to Rovaniemi and unite the European freeski scene under one banner.
This year, after 10 years of the Downdays magazine, we decided to switch things up and make a full-on book instead. It’s no secret that print publishing as a whole has struggled to adjust to the new normal of digital media consumption, but one thing has remained clear: the need for high-quality print products has only grown, and in fact is enjoying something of a resurgence.
You, fair reader, may no longer need a monthly magazine to keep you up-to-date on the happenings. You have them now near-instantaneously via social media. What you do need, however, is a place for those stories and images that will stand the test of time: a chronicle of the times for the things that deserve more than the short-lived glory of the social feed. In short, something you can hold on to. Thus, we offer this book.
With this initial hardcover offering, the Downdays team seeks—as with our magazine before—to make your down days more enjoyable in the seasons and off-seasons to come. A beautiful addition to your bookshelf, coffee table or bathroom reading stash, the 2019 Book of Ski Stories represents an exciting new journey for us, one on which we hope you’ll join us.
A big thanks to the brand partners who helped make this book possible: Armada, Atomic, Line, Mammut, Monster Energy, Scott, Smith, Völkl and The North Face.
