The Worn Wear repair trailer from Patagonia is on the road to select destinations to repair technical outerwear Free of charge, and breathe second life into your used gear.
This year the Worn Wear Repair Tour kicks off in Innsbruck on 24 January, and will continue with stops at several ski resorts throughout the Alps. Zippers, buttons, holes and tears as well as GORE-TEX clothing will all be repaired. Worn Wear was started in 2013 to encourage people to take good care of their equipment — and when necessary to repair it, and make sure it stays useful for as long as possible.
Repairing equipment in order to extend its life can dramatically reduce overall consumption. That’s good for your wallet, and even better for the planet. Patagonia invites you to bring in your favorite (and most worn) piece of clothing to the Worn Wear Tour. Professional seamstresses will repair it free of charge, regardless of which brand. Worn Wear’s intention is to inform people how best to protect and repair their gear, so that their ski and snowboard clothing lasts for as long as possible. Repairing older gear, instead of just buying new stuff each year, is one of the most important things we can do to conserve resources. Positive effects include reducing overall CO2 emissions, waste and and the amount of water it takes to produce an item of clothing. A piece of clothing that is useable for just nine months longer, can reduce the consumption of carbon, waste production and and water by 20 to 30 percent. Repair is a radical act!
To start off the 2019 tour, the Worn Wear Truck will visit Innsbruck from 24-26 January. At a free launch event in the courtyard of the new Patagonia store, repairs will be offered alongside music from Dalai Jama and a light installation from Upcycling Studio. Patagonia Snowboard Ambassador Nicholas Wolken will also present his new short film, “Close to Home.”
